The 4th of July is a BIG deal around here. In our neighborhood, on our street, there have been areas staked and roped-off since this past weekend. We planned to wait for the parade. But last night, as chairs began encroaching upon our section of the sidewalk, we had to move. The street is lined with lonely seats just waiting to be filled on Saturday.

Owen is now forming sentences...sort of. He'll say more and then specify what exactly he fancies.

I've been reading about the world of blogging and all of the fantastic things it can do for one if one wishes to take full advantage. After reading both posts on the subject at literary agent Rachelle Gardner's website, I wanted to employ every tactic for gaining web traffic. I've taken heed and attempted to incorporate a few tips for making our blog more user-friendly. If I ever find that niche, this information will be even more useful.

In the meantime, I've been having a good deal of playtime with Owen. I've found that his threshold for re-reading stories is much higher than mine. I've read How do I Love You ten times over and he still asked to have it read "Agin!" (no misspelling-that's how he says it)
I can't resist. Especially since Owen has learned to tell me that he loves me! "Love you," he says. I can't hug him tight enough.

I spent the beginning of the week hemming pants and coats, and taking sleeves apart and putting them back together again. I've sewn bars and buttons on, too. I took a refresher course in sewing via a book recommendation from my mom. Turns out the full color photos of The Complete Photo Guide to Sewing did indeed prove beneficial.
We are prepping for Bryan's first residency interview at Madigan. With a total uniform overhaul, we were digging to find information about the new regulations, which are...extensive. You can go to U.S. Army Service Uniform to check out the new look and a briefing on the reason for the change. Just google new army uniform and you'll see there is some contention on the subject.

Due to an "unfortunate" turn of events, Bryan's interview was postponed a day. Thus, allowing him time to hike this:
That's Mount Rainier you're looking at...mighty fine, don't you think?---7---
I came across the website for Amy Butler, designer of lovely fabrics and a good sort of other items. It makes me want to sew something for myself!

I read the posts about building blog traffic, too, and found some of the suggestions really ehlpful. Isn't it great how helpful members of the blogging community are willing to help each other?
